<p>About the job<br /> IMPORTANT NOTE:</p> <p>Candidates must submit writing samples of blogs or newsletters they’ve written to be considered.<br /> An assessment before interviews will be required: write an edition of Lean Leverage addressed to our tech company readers.<br /> Applications without writing samples will not be reviewed.</p> <p>Position: Content Writer & Marketing Assistant</p> <p>Type: Full-Time Contractor (40 hrs/week) OR Freelance option available</p> <p>Location: South Africa only (Remote)</p> <p>Work Hours: 8 AM – 5 PM ET (US Eastern Time), Monday-Friday (with 1-hour break)</p> <p>Compensation: $1500-$2000 USD per month (depending on experience)</p> <p>Contract Type: Independent Contractor</p> <p>What You’ll Do</p> <p>You’ll play a central role in scaling and optimizing our content engine, including:</p> <p>Content Creation</p> <p>Research, draft, and refine 30+ blog articles per month (with support from AI tools like ChatGPT & Surfer SEO).<br /> Write and edit 1-2 editions of our flagship Lean Leverage newsletter.<br /> Produce additional content: website articles, brand one-pagers, LinkedIn posts, etc.</p> <p>SEO & Data-Driven Ideation</p> <p>Use keyword research and SEO tools (Google Search Console, Surfer SEO, etc.) to guide content ideas.<br /> Track performance metrics and suggest improvements.</p> <p>Marketing Support</p> <p>Summarize newsletter performance stats (open rates, CTR, etc.).<br /> Assist with Facebook ads (copy, creatives, setup).<br /> Support campaigns with reporting, CMS updates, and task management tools (Notion/Trello/Google Sheets).</p> <p>What You Bring</p> <p>Required:</p> <p>Based in South Africa & able to work US Eastern Time hours.<br /> Strong writing skills in English, with B2B content experience.<br /> Confident using AI writing tools (ChatGPT, Surfer SEO).<br /> Knowledge of SEO and keyword research.<br /> Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.</p> <p>Nice to Have:</p> <p>Familiarity with CMS platforms, Notion, Trello, or Airtable.<br /> Basic design skills (Canva).<br /> Experience with Meta Ads Manager (training can be provided).<br /> Knowledge of Google Search Console.</p> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>Please include:</p> <p>A short introduction about yourself and your background.<br /> 2-3 writing samples (blogs, newsletters, SEO content, or LinkedIn posts).<br /> A short description of your experience with AI writing tools.<br /> 3 newsletter topic ideas you’d pitch for a service helping US small businesses or marketing agencies.</p>
