Deputy Manager Engineering

<p><strong>Basic Functions:</strong></p><p>The responsibilities of the Deputy Engineering Manager will be to lead a team of engineers, participate as a member of the division’s leadership team in driving sustainable, profitable results, and recruit, select and develop the talent needed to sustain and grow. This individual should be a creative, forward-thinking, process-minded, effective communicator to join our team. Additionally, the Deputy Engineering Manager’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:</p><p>· Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers supporting both pre-sale and post-sale engineering work; set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback, mentoring, and career development planning.</p><p>· Drive execution of the team’s short-term operating plan, including delivery commitments, staffing alignment, training plans, and productivity targets.</p><p>· Allocate work effectively across the team based on complexity, capability, and deadlines; ensure appropriate technical oversight and review.</p><p>· Participate in interviewing, onboarding, performance reviews, recognition, and corrective actions.</p><p>· Oversee preparation of engineering inputs for bids/proposals (e.g., design assumptions, load cases, modeling approach, preliminary sizing/optimization, risk/clarification identification).</p><p>· Ensure consistent application of customer specifications and internal engineering practices.</p><p>Partner with estimating/sales counterparts to improve bid responsiveness, accuracy, and engineering risk identification.</p><p>· Manage delivery of engineering packages (e.g., pole models, connection checks, calculations, design clarifications).</p><p>· Coordinate with U.S. engineering to implement practical engineering solutions.</p><p>· Implement and maintain QA processes (peer review, checklists, calculation packages, revision control) to reduce defects and rework.</p><p>· Modify/improve processes, systems, or templates to enhance departmental performance</p><p>· Communicate status, risks, and corrective actions clearly; drive closure on action items and prevent recurrence through root-cause fixes.</p><p>· Lead structured problem solving for difficult to moderately complex technical issues</p><p>· Collaborate and communicate effectively with local and international teammates</p><p>· Managing tasks in a fast-paced environment</p><p>· Work overtime when needed to meet project goals</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><p>· Able to communicate in English</p><p>· B.Tech or B.E. in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering</p><p>· Either 7+ years structural/mechanical engineering experience or 2+ years dedicated leadership experience as a manager</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><p>· M.Tech in engineering or business</p><p>· Registered Chartered or Professional Engineer</p><p>· 2+ years experience with the design of tubular steel transmission and distribution structures</p><p>· Familiarity with ASCE 48, PLS-Pole, and/or Autodesk Inventor</p><p>· Formal leadership training, management certifications, or supervisory experience in an engineering environment</p><p>· Public speaking experience</p>
