Document Review Contract Lead (Remote | 1099)

Level Legal is seeking experienced, document review attorneys to serve as Contract Leads on Level Legal’s remote document review projects. This is a project-based, 1099 contract role.

You have extensive experience in document review and review management. You have experience implementing project workflows and processes. When you see ways to improve those workflows and processes, you proactively bring suggestions to project leadership and discuss them. You learn as much as you can about each project's substance to be a resource to others on the project team.

Role Details:

  • Role: Contract Lead, 1099.
  • Position Location: Fully remote, but must reside in the U.S., and all services must be provided from within one of the 50 states or Washington, DC.
  • License Required: Active U.S. law license in good standing (any US jurisdiction).
  • Contracted Payment Rate: $40 per hour, flat rate.
  • Typical Project Lengths: Short-term projects, generally two to eight weeks. But project lengths will vary.
  • Typical Project Hours: Projects require a minimum of 40 hours during the workweek. Projects may require additional hours or work on weekends. Standard operating hours for the workweek are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST, Monday to Friday. But operating hours may be adjusted based on project-specific needs.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Review documents within 1L workflows with both high accuracy and pace.
  • Oversee workflows (e.g., responsiveness, fact-finding, privilege review and logging, quality control, and redaction workflows), ensuring that documents are handled quickly and correctly.
  • Perform quality control and enhance the quality control process.
  • Identify and isolate documents that are candidates for defensible mass handling with workflows and bring them to project leadership.
  • Become a project subject‑matter expert.
  • Suggest recommendations for workflow and efficiency improvements to project leadership.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the EDRM and modernized eDiscovery workflow.
Minimum Experience Requirements
  • Two years’ review management experience as a Contract Lead or Team Lead.
  • Must have an active U.S. law license in good standing in any US jurisdiction, and the license must be in good standing in all jurisdictions where you are licensed.
  • Prior experience supporting project leadership in overseeing teams of document review attorneys and project workflows (including responsiveness, fact-finding, investigative, privilege review and logging, quality control, and redaction workflows).
  • Relativity workspace proficiency, including complex searches and metrics reporting, required.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of quality control experience on recent managed review projects.
  • Proficiency using O365 applications is preferred.
  • Additional platform certifications are preferred.
Technology Requirements
  • High-speed internet access in a private home office.
  • Computer: Windows 11 PC (or newer) computers, or MacBooks with macOS 14.0 or later.
  • Mobile Devices (used for Multi-Factor Authentication only): Android 12+ or iOS 17.0+.
  • Headset and webcam for video meetings.
  • Tablets are not supported for review, but can be used for Multi-Factor Authentication.
